Kampfgruppe Bäke Up Close

Here are my finished Kampfgruppe Bake Vehicles. They turned out pretty well. I still have a few tiny details that I forgot, but i'll get to them when I do the vehicle crews and finish the Bergepanther. I also have winter coat Germans to paint as well to totally finish up the Kampfgruppe Bake.

I used a blue background for these pictures because of the whitewash, so we'll see how they turn out.

Let me know what you think.

  1. They're nice. The mud is very effective. What do you use for antennae?

  2. Thanx guys, good to see you back Omni!

Believe it or not I use the bristils of an old broom for my antenna.

    30mm for tanks and 20mm for half-tracks.
I kind of press it around the end of my finger and it gives the bristal a small curve.

  3. at the risk of being geeky, and not meaning to criticise your excellent work, but my understanding of german tank antennae is they were either 1.4m or 2 m or the telescopic star antenna on command vehicles (LW).
I'm thining of modelling my Panzerwerfers with the AA Mg mounted on the back of the cab just to remind myself they have them.

  6. It's been a while since I have hit your blog and I must say that there has been fantastic work ever since! These turned out great. I really like the subtlety of your whitewash, I like the dirt streaks and that rising mud effect is great. There are a couple of things that i'm not over fond of, one of them snow effects on the roadwheels. However I only really mentioned it so I don't sound like a fanboy. I hope that you won't mind if I acquire *cough steal* some of these techniques and incorporate them into a winter force I plan to do in the future. This, in my eyes, is an example of a really well executed whitewashed force.

    1. Thanx, I hear ya about the snow effects. I wanted them to look like they were dirty but driving through fresh snow. I'm still not sure if I like it. One day I do, and one day I don't.
